With the many technological changes occuring on the web, businesses need to stay ahead of the curve. The following are specialized web services that address many of these dynamic issues.
XHTML 1.0 and HTML 4.01 Strict Validation
For many years, web designers and individuals did not see the importance in validating a website to be compliant with the WC3.org' s recommendations. Of course, its always a nice idea to follow the standards, but if the page one is designing displays well -- why change it? Many designer's learned how to design years ago when certain techniques were widely accepted and worked just fine. So what if it did not validate, the code works... right? WRONG!
The W3C is the standard bearer for all things web. They are dedicated to organizing the code standards so that designers and programmers all follow the best practices. Today, users have at least a half a dozen browsers to choose from. Gone are the days of 90% Internet Explorer and 10% Netscape. Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple's Safari and Opera have taken a large portion of the market. This means they all need a standard to follow regardless their own quirky differences. This is exactly what has happened. The latest versions of all of these browsers all follow strict validation standards, with Internet Explorer still having a few quirks that seems to ignore these standards. However, compared to the previous IE5 and IE6, they have come along way.
So why make sure your website is validated to be code-standard in the strictest sense? Mainly because if you get your website up to snuff with strict validation, you can be almost 100% sure it will render nearly identical on all common browsers. This is important because a website is an image of your business. If all you ever use is Internet Explorer, your site may seem to be fine. But who cares what you use, its what your visitors are using that matters. If 20% are now using Firefox or some other browser and your site looks like garbage on those browsers, then 20% of your potential business will be lost right from the start. However, if you took the time to make your whole site W3c compliant, then your site will look good across all platforms and you won't lose those clients.
Some Major Benefits to Validation Compliance:
- Clean code
- Search Engine Friendlyness
- Cross-browser uniformity
- Faster page download
- Better website usability for all
- Easier maintenance and updating
- Easier theming and redesigning
- ... just to name a few
